The latter name referred to a celestial deity he read about in a book on the Afro-Caribbean religion Santería. Conner explained that he found the former name in a Necronomicon paperback and believed that it referred to "a demoness who kills people in their sleep".
The name "Xasthur" is a combination of " Hastur" and "Xenaoth". The first album with this new style was entitled Subject to Change, released in 2016. However, he began using the name once again in 2015 to instead perform acoustic neofolk music. Conner formed Xasthur in 1995 and released eight studio albums of black metal by 2010, when he announced the end of the project. It says march 3, but I got the update yesterday and then the bandcamp page didn’t include the first 12 tracks for a couple of hours, either. I’m also not entirely sure when this was officially out. Note: there’s a version of the album up on Spotify, but it doesn’t include the first 12 songs, and most of the good stuff is there. There are some true pearls to be found: new Dødheimsgard, his dark twin Doedsmaghird, new Hellripper, new Mortuary Drape, new Mortem and of course the new Kvist demo as most shining examples. There are demo’s, dug up old tracks and completely new songs, even from completely new bands. They’ve invited a who’s who of second wave black metal to chip in for this compilation.
